I originally built my server on a 2018 MacBook air and earlier this evening it had a bout of belabored breaths before eventually dying. RIP. Drove to closest place that had a raspberry pi, naturally it was the electronics store near my high school. The raspberry pi they had in-store does not have an ethernet port and the poor thing refuses to connect to my wifi. Since it was working on the Mac, I may return the pi and try replacing the battery.
Project Idea
Luckily, I feel confident about my concept and have already been interviewing folks for input / seeing if they'd be interested in contributing. Essentially, I'm building out a resource guide for kids/adolescents that for whatever reasons have been parentified and/or isolated. I originally thought I'd focus specifically to the kids I grew up around near the San Luis AZ/ San Luis Mexico border, but after talking to more people and reflecting on my own upbringing I decided to broaden the scope.
Current features that are a must for me:
- not a social platform
- all contributors will use pseudonyms
- must be functional in 3G speeds or less
- markdown files
- All content will be at a 5th grade reading level.
-
All content will be in english and spanish
If I can swing it, I'd also an SMS feature a la "Ask Jeeves". In the grand scheme, this is pretty cosmically aligned with the origins of this project but I feel defeated nonetheless. RIP to my gumption. RIP to all the snacks I ate.
